About life in the Dolomites

Dolomites - Another worldAnother world: where past and present meet. Men have always been interested in the world beyond the one that they live in, trying to interpret and understand it. Theories have been developed and then declared generally applicable, only to be replaced often with new beliefs.

The Pale Mountains

Once upon a time in the Dolomites there was a Princess - lived on the moonprince to whom a princess appeared in a dream, but she lived on the moon. The two fell in love, but the dark gloomy mountains made the princess sad, so that she fell ill with a deadly sickness. She missed the radiant light of the moon. As the worried prince was out wandering one night, he met a dwarf king. The king told him that the dwarf people had been chased away by men. The prince too told the king of his troubles. When the King of the Dwarves suggested that he could use his skills to cure the princess of her melancholy, on condition that he could always live in that place, the prince agreed straight away. The very next night hundreds of dwarves began to swathe the dark mountains in the light of the moon until every peak and every rock started to shine pale white. That is why the Dolomites, unlike other mountains, have this characteristic pale colour.
