All information about the enchanting holiday location of Merano-Meran

Merano – the holiday location between palm trees and glaciers

Endless sun, relaxing walking paths in the town, lined with a great deal of palm trees, and more challenging hiking trails at higher altitudes. The spa town excites travellers from spring to late autumn. And over recent years, increasingly so during winter. That is basically the entire year, in Merano

In the spring, start your holiday morning with a cappuccino and a croissant, soak up the sun and admire the beautiful flowers from one of the cafés along the promenade. In summer look forward to hikes in the Texel Group and enjoy the unique views. Enjoy autumn with its bright colours and in October, don’t miss the Merano Grape Festival. The Christmas Market during the Advent period is definitely a highlight and Meran 2000, the ski area above the spa town, can be reached in 7 minutes by car – and of course also with the public bus system.

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff

Unique and by far THE HIGHLIGHT of the spa town of Merano: the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. It covers an area of 12 ha and has more than 80 garden landscapes. At the beginning of April you can already stroll below blooming cherry trees and admire more than 200,000 tulips. In summer it is time for marvelling at the roses and hydrangeas, whereas in Autumn it glows with the beautiful colours of the Indian Summer. Plus, in the middle of the garden, there is also the Trauttmansdorff Castle, which was the holiday residence of Empress Sissi of Austria during her stays in Merano. Today the castle houses Touriseum, South Tyrol’s Province Museum of Tourism.
