Holiday information on Santa Cristina, Italy

Holiday on the sunny side of Val Gardena

A lively village surrounded by lush meadows against a backdrop of the striking mountain peaks of the Dolomites: this is how visitors see Santa Cristina in Italy. Located at 1,428 m above sea level, the Adinae municipality is also home to two protected areas: the northern part which includes Cislealm, belongs to the Puez-Geisler Nature Park, while the southern mountain groups up to Monte Pana are part of the Alpe di Siusi protected area.

In the summer, Santa Cristina in the Dolomites is the place to be for hiking, mountaineering and walking. A countless number of hiking trails lead directly from the village into this majestic Dolomite mountain landscape. Enjoy the scent of flowering meadows and be enchanted by romantic forests and idyllic mountain lakes. Explore the world of Ladin mythology while on holiday in Santa Christina, then return to a rustic mountain inn for a hearty snack and discover unique art and cultural treasures. A special attraction not to be missed, is the largest carved, wooden crib in the world, which can be seen all year round in the Iman sports centre.

It is a home from home for skiers

There is probably no other ski slope in Italy as well-known as the Saslong. Every year for one weekend, it is the hub of the ski world, for the World Cup races in Val Gardena. Only the greatest skiers have managed to win here, from Franz Klammer to Bode Miller, Kristian Ghedina, Stevan Newman and Aksel Lund Svindal. And each year, a new star joins this eternal list of the very best! Every year in December since 1969, the descent to the notorious Saslong takes place, which is not only a mandatory date in the calendar in Santa Cristina, but also has a large fan base worldwide!
