What city is closest to the Dolomites?

The town closest to the Dolomites is Cortina d’Ampezzo. It lies at an altitude of around 1,224 metres in the province of Belluno and is surrounded by the peaks of the Tofana group, the Cristallo and the Sorapiss group. That is why it is also called the “Queen of the Dolomites”.

How long is the train ride from Venice to Dolomites?

This varies depending on the destination station. The train journey from Venice to Cortina (to Calalzo di Cadore and then by bus) takes approximately 4 hours. However, if you travel from Venice by train towards Verona and then on to Bolzano, for example, that also takes about 3.5 hours.
