Belluno region holiday guide

A paradise for nature lovers

Unquestionably: The Alpine town of Belluno, beautifully located on the Piave River, is enticing with its special charm. Just like the other famous towns in the holiday region: Cortina d'Ampezzo, Feltre, Arabba and Agordo. Those looking for a real holiday amongst nature are drawn to the mountains. And the province which bears the same name is richly blessed. Belluno in Italy, together with South Tyrol and Trentino, belongs to one of the three Dolomite regions of Italy.

The Belluno Dolomites National Park, founded in 1993, is the dream destination of every hiker and climber, and as its name implies, is entitled to call the Belluno Dolomites its own. Climbers among you will be well aware of the 2,565 m high Monte Schiara, which a variety of climbing routes lead to. Especially attractive: The Dolomites Höhenweg no. 1 leads from the well-known Braies lake in Alta Pusteria, South Tyrol to Belluno. A truly wonderful hiking tour, on which countless active holidaymakers set forth every year.

Winter sports fans should mark the dates in their calendars: the period spanning 6 - 22 February 2026 - where the Dolomites region of Belluno, or more precisely the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, will host the international winter sports event 2026. This is where the women's alpine skiing competitions take place - in the Tofana ski area, which also hosts the annual Women's World Cup. And not only that! The curling competitions will also take place in Cortina. The Cortina ice channel is also being renovated and so the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge races can take place there. The closing ceremony of the major international Para sports event on 15 March 2026 will also take place in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
